i guess it's time to reveal my new project !
some of you have heard i am moving....
i am not....well...not anytime soon ..
here's the story...
a few weeks back..
i went to an auction..
i wanted to win this couch....
isnt it cool???
the sides fold down..
you can fold down one..making it a chaise..
or you can fold down both to sleep on it...
i thought it was so cool..
and it would go well with my vintage chairs.......
anyway...i digress...
the auction was mostly a tool auction
lots lots lots of men....
(not a good thing...funky, dirty men..looking for cheap tools)
and the auction took all day...noone cared about this little sofa that i wanted so bad.
well...as we walked the property waiting and waiting...
someone mentioned that they were going to auction off the house....
hmmmmmmmmmm not interested........
but as the auction went longer and longer........
the house looked cuter and cuter.......
a little back story...
i am a single mother,
i have raised 3 boys......
i live in a house i purchased years ago for the sole reason
that it was on a cul-du-sac..so they could play in the street
and it was across the street from the grade school
and junior high......
so they could walk to school for years
i have always said that when my last one graduated
that i would be selling this house and moving to a much smaller..less maintenance home..
perhaps even an apartment.....
well..last year...my last one graduated......so...
ok...so back to the story......
the longer we were there, the more i liked this little house...
it's called a 'betsy ross' style house...
2 small rooms over 2 small rooms
just perfect for moi.........
so .....when the time came........i bid........and
i won !@!!
maybe i lost my mind for an afternoon.....
maybe i didnt...but either way i made a life changing decision.
and what a great project it's going to be !!
my plan is to spend the next year fixing the house up.......
(maybe starting here with this lovely wallpaper)
and the next 10 years working on the property........
(click for a better view)
cant you see it..........look real hard........
a new roof, new siding..........come on...you can see it.........
i cant wait !!!...
oh..and i got the couch too...........

Well, I think it is just charming! So. Did you move the couch - or leave it in our new abode? Can't wait to see how you fix her up!
ReplyDeleteangela...thanks...i am going to blog about all the renovations..should be interesting at least..haha...coleen..we left the couch there..haha
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got a new house to go with the new couch...Me I would probably go for a new chair to go with the couch!!! Have a blast working your magic!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great story! I've been to so many auctions I can just picture how the day would have unfolded. I've gone and at the beginning nothing looks too great and by the end you're loving some pieces you never would have considered at first. I've never done that with a house though! But, I completely believe that it was a great decision. I do have to say a fixer up house with lots of trees might not be less maintenance though lol!! Can't wait to see what you do with it and yes I'd start with that wallpaper too! The outside is sooooooo charming!
ReplyDeleteI forgot about the couch--LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteHey Jeanne,
ReplyDeleteWhere is this house located?? I agree...it's lovely, and I have a feeling that you'll have a GREAT time with it. Good for you!!!

Wow....you got your work cut out for yourself!!
ReplyDeleteThat little house is so cozy and cute!! I love it and would have bought it too! look forward to updates on your remodel.
ReplyDeleteYou found my dream home! I'm sure there will be lots of headaches and even more laughs. You may have gone for a couch, but God sent you there for a blessing! Best of luck with the renovations. I will keep checking back to see how it progresses.
ReplyDeleteOMG! This is awesome! I literally bounced up and down when I read that you won the house and the couch! LOL! How cool is this? I've always dreamed doing this and I want to have a smaller house right now so badly! I can't remember how close you are to me but if you need help ;) Oh! Do this - start a scrap book and take a piece of that wall paper (and the paper that may be underneath it) and save it with photos and a story of the renovation and keep other thingies too. It will be such a hoot to look at when yo finish and a great history of the house's new life! I love this! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteThe cutest house, and couch. You are crazy but way to be! I would love it, and you can make it yours. Oh the staircase, adorable. you are so lucky!
ReplyDeleteAdorable house! Love the story behind it.
